Work is ongoing here through to 2019 at this large town centre garden in Salcombe town, Devon. The site sits in a bowled valley basin and on arrival in 2017 prior to building works, was heavily overgrown and untouched for over 10 years. Old stone walls were crumbling and collapsed and the a tired reflection of its former beauty.
With a clear brief to provide a tropical summer entertainment oasis for 3 generations of a family, we quickly established how the garden needed to function before getting to work on the framework of form and structure. Designing several sun terraces to catch the sun at all times of day, an outside kitchen and firepit and a badminton lawn, this garden will offer an outdoors entertainment space to relax and entertain. Limited borders ease the maintenance of this Devon based garden yet with injections of tropical cannas, bananas and a thicket of Japanese acers, the colour extends throughout the summer season and well into winter.
